Tripping in the Van...Maria and Johnny

Maria and Johnny set out to visit three State Parks (their ambition is to eventually visit them all?) go to the Silvergate Anderson Cabin, visit Johnny's sister in Utah, snap a picture of Ferrell's in Idaho Falls and visit cousins at Silvergate.  They have a lot of beautiful scenery pix on Maria's Facebook.  This is just a few showing the van Johnny has converted into their traveling abode.  Pretty nice!!

From David's Book of Remembrance of Mom and Dad

I asked Maria to do a digital of these two pix because I had never seen them.  I can hardly remember Mom when she did not have grey hair so I especially liked this one.

This was after they had moved to Idaho Falls and Dad was retired.  They both look very relaxed and happy but Dad was only 67 when he died.

Pictures from David's Book of Remembrance around 1938-1940

These are pictures I do not remember seeing before.  This would have been Easter at the white house on the South Side of Glendive and I would have been in First Grade.  Those look like small Easter baskets by today's standards!  Mother used to tie our hair in white rags to make them curl.  Those are huge buttons on our coats.

It is winter and we are wearing anklets which is interesting.  I have on a different coat and David just has on a sweater.  This is also on the South Side and I was probably only five because Carole has evidently not been born yet and we have our Christmas dolls.

This is also with Christmas dolls and would have been in Second Grade because we have moved to the big house on the Heights.  Carole is just past a year old.  She was born the November before I turned six in January.  I can't think who that man would be.  It must be winter but no coats except for Carole.

Another Hammock Goes to the Squirrels!

I actually caught the two little tree squirrels in the act when they were demolishing the other side of the hammock and before I could get their pix they had scampered up that tall tree!!

Quote from an article on the internet:
But the next time you’re able to make it to the backyard, you’re horrified to discover your hammock hanging oddly, no longer suspended by the same tightly woven rope it once was. The squirrels have had their way, and made off with your little slice of paradise.

animal-damaging-rope-on-hammock

It’s a tough situation. The squirrels intentions are innocent enough: they want fibers for nests in which to make squirrel babies, which will in turn want nests of their own. Your hammock, as it turned out, was the low-hanging fruit they found most nest-worthy, and now you’re out one of your favorite spots to unwind.

And who knocked the bird bath over,,,what is going on when I am not watching?  It looks like someone was having a party with all the footprints out by the hammock.

Never Too Old to Learn!

So I have lived here for over 19 years now and I never put my rockers here and it absolutely works better than at the window (where they usually are) or across from the stove.  How did I never know?  Plus I could get rid of one of the end tables which there was not room enough for anyway.  How can I be so clueless?

Another thing I learned this week is that I solved the mystery of the reaction I was getting the last few months from oxybutynin (which I have taken for well over umpteen years).  I had just been in for the second part of my annual physical in which Dr. Salehi said she thought I was taking too high a dose.  I told her the strange thing is that I have been getting a very dizzying reaction to taking them since this spring so she told me to half it.  I did and this week I told her that was not working so she said to add one pill back in the morning.

Sunday morning I did that and I had such a strong reaction I had to sit and recover.  I was so dizzy and woozy I knew I could not drive and I had just about been out the door to church.  I actually fell asleep as I sat there and when I awoke there was only an hour left so I missed church and went in to see what I could find out from the internet.  If the Dr doesn't know, check the internet, right.

So I got out the vitamin pill bottle, mega red bottle, D 3 bottle, calcium bottle, mini aspirin bottle with all their ingredients so I could read them.  Then I went looking for interactions with oxybutynin.  And it didn't take long to find.  I had switched my vitamin multi to Centrum Silver this spring and it has potassium in it!!!  Oxybutynin should never be used with potassium unless under a physician's watchful care and it is a serious interaction according to the report.

So, easy fix, I take my oxybutynin alone and never with any other pills.  Guess what, no problem at all.  Be interesting to see what Dr. Salehi will say to this.  How did we ever survive without the internet?

Silvergate Cabin "Relatives Roost"

Maria took plenty of pictures so we can see the new addition really well.   Cousins from California, Montana and Utah meet...this deck is at the Thayne cabin.

Johnny gets a rest in front of the cabin, Anderson cabin.
