My Lovely Living Space in Carlsbad

I sent these pictures to Steve to show Marilyn and Jeanne where I was living now.  This is my daughter Linda and husband Gary's home in Carlsbad, CA.

My living quarters are the lower windows by the front door.

This is the street toward the direction of where the ocean and beach are.

This is looking in on my comfy bedroom den.

I have lots of drawers and shelves for all the clothes not in the large closet.  And my big TV!

Sadie has her own bed which she likes alot except at night she likes to sleep on the bed with me.  My protector.   Notice the curtain separating me from the passers in the hall.

Sidetables for all my 'stuff'' and nice light and heater in case of a cool night or day.

My chair that swivels to look out the window at the park or rocks me and my grandchildren or reclines to watch tv and rest.  And lots of rooms for all my techy stuff.

Lots of cupboard and drawer space for all my makeup and other needs!  And my own bathroom with great light and good water pressure, I love it.

There is a big fan if I ever get too hot.

My desk area is in the room next to my bedroom and bath and plenty of light and room for everything.  And as a bonus my grandson Jimmy and his friends found a wonderful desk chair that just fits me and has wonderful back support so it has replaced this chair.

I love it, very comfy, in a beautiful home with beautiful people.

Covid Update

During the last month we have been tested for Covid once and sometimes twice a week.  Those who tested positive had to quarantine for 14 days and there was social distancing created in the dining room for those of us not quarantined.

On Oct 28 we received the news that we could get booster shots at Smiths and we were told that 3 people had tested positive in the last 3 weeks.

On Nov 2 all activities, games, transportation, housekeeping and maintenance were suspended until further notice.  We were also told to wash our hands frequently and wear a mask in the common areas.  Visitors were limited to those caring for their loved ones, hopefully the same person every day.  Most all positive patients had been vaccinated and Jeanne had received the booster shot the week before.  The Utah Department of Health tested us for the first time on Wednesday 11/3.

On Nov 4 we were told there were reveal several additional cases of Covid in our community revealed in the testing.  They are testing again on the 8th and 12th.  Anyone with sickness of any kind was asked to self quarantine.

On the 10th we were told the testing on the 8th had just a few cases and all were notified immediately as well as their families.  Conditions remain the same.

On the 13th we were told there were no new cases in the last testing.  Conditions remain the same.  We are going to be tested again.

On November 29 the dining room is back to normal and breakfast buffet is on.  Masks do not need to be worn and apartments are open to visitors.  The dining room remains closed to visitors.  Some activities will be resumed.  No home evening till next week.

Jeanne and I have been watching church on my tablet at the link that Steven gave me.  Linda bought us a speaker so it is easier to hear and just watch one tablet.

The shuttle will start again next Sunday but I told Steven since Jeanne had had two blowouts in the morning I was hesitant to take her to Church so we were sticking with the tablet zoom meeting.  We miss the Relief Society and Sunday School lesson.  Jeanne does not remember the blowouts so she has no fear of going anywhere but I do.

Turtle Cheesecake

These are the kind of desserts they sometimes serve here at Treeo and the reason I have gained almost 20 lbs since I moved here.

My Front or Back? at Treeo

I have both memories of the beaches of San Diego and the mountains of Lake Almanor.  Both great places to live but San Diego area is so expensive!!!!

Moving Day

Linda and Gary picked up a truck in Chico I think and drove it up.  Joe and Monica and the missionaries came over and what amazing work they all did!!

Nevertheless, we had to leave some things there.  I left one of the rockers, the dining table and chairs and corner cupboard to match, the glass shelves, gave the twin bed away and all the shelves and desk in that room...still the truck was bursting.  Joe said he wished he had encouraged me to get a bigger truck.  As it is we could not have found a place for it all but we could have used the dining table and chairs.  I really appreciate the hard work of all these people.  Carole was there helping, too but did not make the picture.

Last Time at Buffalo Chips

We had to do the traditional thing and have one last time at Buffalo Chips.  Buffalo Chips has wonderful  pizza and is quite near the Clear Creek Branch.  We enjoyed all of it, though forgot to take a picture of what we were eating!

Carole flew to Reno thinking we were leaving sooner than we are.  She has been such a tremendous help in preparing to leave and will drive down with me and stay until she can help me move in.

Linda and Gary will be driving the truck with all the furniture.  They flew up and rented a car to get the truck rental.

Snow Time

It always reassures me to see my tree looking back at me.

We planted this tree as a seedling with several others, but none have grown as tall as this one.

The Moss of My Roof is Gone

This is moss coming off my roof.  Before Womack was finished there would be two garbage bags of those critters that had been stuck to my roof.  Very strange.

Wild Daisies Finally Bloom

The daisies at the street on both sides of the driveway

and the daisies in the backyard have finally bloomed.  Why are they so late, so much rain???

Flowers Are Planted!!!

We made our annual trek out to Martin's Nursery and bought a lot of flowers.  I did not get any of the hanging baskets this year.  Just filled my own and everything looks beautiful.  Wish the wind would stop blowing, seems to be more than usual this year.

We also went this to Walmart twice this week and got some garden soil and I put it on top of the mound in front and seeing if I can find enough catmint and white stuff to transplant and fill the whole hill--I have about half done!!

In Bloom!!!

I can't believe it, this rhododendron has bloomed.  It has only happened once before in all the years I have been here.  The only thing I can think of that I may have done right is last year I bought all that red mulch and I just read that they will not bloom if they dry out and maybe for the first time they stayed with moisture cuz of all the mulch???!!!

And this was my crabapple tree before the wind blew all the blossoms off.

Back Home in Lake Almanor, April 2018

Mitch and I arrived near to 8 PM on Thursday night the 28th.  Everything looks good!

Joe, my home teacher, turned on the water and hot water heater and the heat gauge needed a battery so Mitch put that in and the house was soon warm.

Mitch got everything raked up fairly easy and had some help on Saturday for a Susanville friend.  He has been meeting with old friends for a reunion and playing their music together.
