Frightening News

One unfortunate accident and one near tragedy marred this weekend.

First, Gary, on a scouting trip to Havasu, jumped in a lake and landed on a rock with his right foot.  His body went one way and his foot the other, resulting in a painful, fractured ankle.  It took 30 guys to carry him to a place that a helicopter could pick him up and transport him to Flagstaff, AZ. where he had emergency surgery.  He is resting at home and will probably have to stay off his ankle for up to 12 weeks.  It was his right foot and so looks like Kelly will be designated driver back and forth to his Orthodontist office--hope he can manage!

Secondly, Ryan, Kristi and Mike's second child, nearly drowned in a Community pool in Las Vegas.  Apparently he had been playing away from the pool and was not wearing his floaties.  Then, unseen, by anyone,  he apparently jumped in the pool and bumped his head and was discovered by Kristi at the bottom of the pool.  Tender mercies, a nurse was in the area and did CPR and he is recouperating in the hospital.

Life is so fragile, I am so thankful that both are mending at this time and there were good people around to help when needed.

Reading about the flooding in Minot is also frightening.  This is the worst flood since 1890s and may divide the town as the town is two hills with a valley in the middle.  The flooding comes from a river from Canada.  1/3 of the city has had to be evacuated and they  believe the water is contaminated so water has to be boiled.  I don't think FEMA has arrived with any help yet.  Over 10,000 people out of their homes!

Cute Great Grandchildren...

Halloween Fun!

Kristi has such cute pix of the darling great granchildren Kate and Ryan it is hard to choose, but I must have some for my annual book even though there are lots on her blog.

Kate turns 4!!!  So hard to believe.  And she gets a bicycle...

She is really a big girl now--with her auntie Sarah.
Happiness is a new bicycle with all the trimmings...

What a cutie amoungst the pumpkins--Ryan, Just turning 2 this week.

Kate can choose her own...

Double birthday party, double the fun, double dipper Birthday Cake...

Kristi, your children are living the life all children should have...

Meanwhile...

It has not been above 30 degrees all day and last week it was hot!  And the snow is sticking to the ground.  Should be a winter wonderland by morning, So glad I am cozy in here by the fire.

Scorpios in The Family

I have always enjoyed reading about our SIGNS and seeing how an individual matches up to his sign.  After reading about Kristi's children's antics I had to remind myself of the Scorpio sign again, those born from October 24 to November 22.  According to those who know, these are some of the more interesting and exciting people in our life.

In our family, that would be Kate and Ryan, little Jimmy, college age Mitch, my daughter, Maria and my sister Carole.  Supposedly the Scorpio are the most passionate, who can go from one extreme to the other,  and who always will keep your life interesting.

Kristi and Mike's Babes

Linda drove with me as far as Kristi's and I stayed overnight so I was able to enjoy the babes. They are both so cute and so sweet. Here Kate does a nice pose for her Grandma Linda.
And Grandma Linda even got a smile out of Ryan.
But it would be interesting to know what was going on in Kate's mind when we tried to get a picture of her sitting on my lap. She acts like she is my friend but she would not allow a picture without her Mom holding her. This is like the Santa Claus picture we have of Linda crying and trying to get off Santa's lap when she was about that old.
Kate wouldn't let her Grandma Linda hold her for a picture either so I don't feel so badly. Wonder what the problem is about picture taking with Grandmas? Hmmm.
At any rate we did a pictute of Kate with her Mom holding her and even a 4 generation shot on Linda's camera--at least I hope it was on Linda's camera, it isn't on mine!

Just Kate!

Great Grandbaby Kate is a delightful child and Kristi is such a great Mom. Kate really enjoys being with everybody and is busy, busy, busy all the time. She usually won't look in the camera but I caught her four times here, just couldn't get her to smile.
Looks like she is always eating but she is a good eater. Cute, cute, cute. Every day's a good day for Kate!

Granddaughter Kristi, the Mom

Thinking about Craig made me think about granddaughter Kristi, the Mom. She is amazing to watch in action. You can tell she loves being a Mom. I have no picture on here because if you click the title to this blog it will go straight to her blog and you can see her darling Kate and husband Mike and her. Try it, it works. I am so proud of you, Kristi. You are setting a high mark for all the other granddaughters of how to be a Mom!

Kate's New House

On Thursday I picked up Linda at the airport and met Kristi and Kate for 4 days of moving the Stewarts from Incline Village to Reno, Nevada.
Here Kate looks like she is clowning with something in her mouth that looks like a fake tooth, but it's just food...
I had the fun job of watching Kate while the others did the intense work but even so I was fatigued. She is a fast moving baby with lots of energy. I enjoyed her very much. Here Linda tries to get her to eat...
Kristi and Mike have done a super job of picking out colors and furniture and get this--on the first day they had the Closet people, the Shutter people, and the TV/sound people meet them at the house so all windows were shuttered or blinded, all closets were shelved, etc. and all wiring for the tv's and sound system was completed. It was amazing, they were so organized.
I didn't get many pictures, will wait till it is all finished, but it is beautiful and looking like a model home, very exciting!
On Saturday, Maria came down and she and Linda took me for a birthday treat! I had a wonderful massage and they had facials and then we had a terrific Italian lunch. Thank you so much my beautiful daughters! I really enjoyed the massage, I needed it. In fact I think I could use one almost daily, just like Bob Hope.
