Happy Birthday Cupcakes
Wow, I have not been feeling well. Last week I stayed at James and Camber's house while they were gone and little Jimmy was sick with a fever, headache, etc. By Thursday when I came home I had the same thing but I am finally over it!!! I also decided I can't handle being a nanny anymore--my feet and legs get too tired especially in such a big house. I enjoyed the children though, all so very sweet and helpful, but didn't see too much of Lea and Jacob. Since I will not drive them to their schools anymore, they find alternative housing when rides are needed. The first two days Kelsi and I were there alone and we spent most of the time watching "Hannah Montana" on Netflix. At the end of the second day, Kelsi said, "This has been the best two days of my life, just watching TV." Sometimes we need days like that.
While I was there Meagan and Keira came over with gluten free cupcakes and presents on my birthday. Keira didn't miss a beat, when her mother told her to give me the presents she handed one to me and said, "This one is for you and this one is for me." Her mother had to remind her that, "No, both of the presents are for Grandma." She found a couple of fishing poles on the deck though and they were more fun than any old present anyway.
Meagan used the Betty Crocker Gluten Free Mix and they were really good--I will have to stock up on that before I go home. Meagan added to my Paper Doll collection with Beyonce (who I really admire by the way) so that was fun. So surprised paper dolls are still being made!!! I also received a darling note pad with my name on it--and I really need to make lists now, so very apropos! Gorgeus day on the deck.
Camber has some great sofa table books and Keira enjoyed one before she left. It was a fun birthday party. Can hardly wait till the end of February when Keira will have a new sister!
Sadie and Bear also enjoyed a sleep on the deck on my birthday. It was a beautiful sunny California day!

Farewell to Meagan and Keira
Since there was 24 hour road construction on 32 we drove west on 36 to Red Bluffs and then on 5 to the airport, it worked well. I came back on 70 and 147 and it took me longer and it was much too zig zaggy for me anymore. Keira would not have liked it as she did not like riding in the "jungle" down 32!!
Great trip, so glad they came to visit me.

Farewell and Welcome Beach Party
What a fun beach party at Paradise Point in Mission Bay. Maria and Johnny brought kayaks and a paddle board and Linda and Gary brought a cooker, table and most delicious cupcakes and everyone brought their own meat (except me) and food to share. There was no wind. Unfortunately my camera battery went out and I didn't get many pix. Maria shared some and hopefully Meagan will have some.

Danny
In 1957 I was in a play at 4th Ward in North Park. Danny, one of the San Diego locals, played my son. I had floured grey hair as his mother. I also remember Danny and I stole a kiss behind the curtains one night. Danny was the one who brought me a treat when I had my wisdom teeth out. He stayed and cheered me up and told me about his experiences in Japan. I also remember my beautiful new white blanket was stained when my gums bled in the night. I was at the sink drenching my blanket in cold water, forgetting about the pain in my teeth. Luckily it was white again. It was also Danny who asked me to go to the Fireside with him the first Sunday I was back in San Diego after spending the summer at BYU after my break up from Bill. Richard also asked me to go with him after he introduced himself but I went with Danny.
Danny was a good looking, fun guy who all the girls had a little crush on and he eventually married our friend, beautiful Lani.
Lani and I were two of the BYU graduates who came to San Diego to teach in 56 and 57. We drove all the way to Utah one Christmas when we were both alone in San Diego. We had Christmas Eve in Las Vegas as we stopped for something to eat. It was a spur of the moment trip and we arrived early Christmas morning at her relatives and mine. Anyway fun memories of those dating years in San Diego--56 to 59.
Jump forward 53 years and Meagan is living on the same block as Danny and Lani and here is a picture of Meagan and Keira at Danny's 80th birthday party. It is a small world, after all.

Private Swim Lesson
Keira was the only one of her age group to show up for her "Mom and Me" Swim Lesson so she had a private lesson with lots of cheering from the side.
Keira complied with most all their directions till she had had enough and then she got her strawberry licorice reward.
She really did well, I didn't get all the pictures.
