Favorite Pix of Keira

Meagan took a lot of great pictures of Keira while she was here.  These are some of my personal favorites.

Private Swim Lesson

Keira was the only one of her age group to show up for her "Mom and Me" Swim Lesson so she had a private lesson with lots of cheering from the side.

Keira complied with most all their directions till she had had enough and then she got her strawberry licorice reward.

She really did well, I didn't get all the pictures.

Fun at the Beach and Learning to Swim

The reward for a good day's work in the lake.

Hey I like to wear this vest!

Practicing Keira's Swim Lesson.

Keira and Meagan at Lake Almanor

Keira and Meagan flew to Reno on Sunday and  by Sunday night we were playing on the slides and dancing to the Jazz band at the Bandshell.  Hopefully Meagan has a lot more pictures than I do.

Meagan and Keira have been at the lake everyday and Keira is happiest when there are other children to play with.  She has had one swimming lesson and appears to have no fear.

The noodle is used for the children to hold on to while they kick.  The lady next to us on the beach told me I could ride on it and it would actually hold me.  Her son and I rode our noodles out to the deck and amazingly it does work.  You can get exercise with your legs and arms without all the work of swimming.  Keira has another lesson tomorrow.  Hope I get some more pictures.

It has been so fun to have them here.  We have also been to town and bought books and had frosties, Keira has walked Bandido, we had pizza at Buffalo Chips and played on the slide in Clear Creek and walked on the old bridge.  Keira has helped with tending Bandido and do the watering.  I just haven't gotten enough pictures!!!

The lake is so clean and warm, glad I finally got in it this year!

Raisen Roll

For years my Mom would roll up raisen filling in pie crust on a long cookie sheet and I did the same and have always loved it.  Usually I make it when Maria is here but this time I forgot.

Today I did the same thing, only instead of using raisens I used fresh bluberries and gluten free crust and only made half as much.  Yum, yum, so good and so easy.

This was one of two small rolls and all that is left, even Michael liked it.  Looks like I could have used one of my nicer pie plates though!!!

Love those fresh blueberries--cheap at Costco...

Text Enhance

I finally found out what those obnoxious little ads were on my blogs.  Text Enhance has certain words turn blue and underlined and when anyone touches it as they read there is an ad.  There is a huge "How to Remove Text Enhance Spam and Malware/Adware Hover Text Links" for every browser you might use.

It evidently is a great ad money maker for someone and they think it doesn't bother us at all but I make books from my blogs and definitely do not want them on there.

You can also put Adblock on Chrome.

I asked Michael why he never gets any of these obnoxious things and he says he has learned what not to download or search for...so we need to be wise!!!

Random Thoughts

In the book "The Last Honest Woman"  the horse stalls needed to be cleaned every morning and the horses let out into the corral.  Sort of reminds me of what I do with Bandido every morning.  I take the towels he has surrounding his bed and wash them and clean out his area and  put the plastic bags down again with fresh towels, put his bed back in place and clean his water and food dish before putting it back.  While I am doing this he is roaming around the yard as far as he can go on his leash that is on a pulley.  I carry him out to the hammock and he saunters back and hopefully relieves himself a little more on the way back.  The towels have to be washed twice because the odor is so strong, wonder why that is.  He seems happy, sleeps a lot, eats a lot, and never barks.  His eyes need cleaning out quite often.  I sort of feel like I am taking care of an Alzheimer's patient.  Easier with a dog than a person I am sure though.  Hope no one ever has to take care of me, I just want to drift off in my sleep some night.

When I was adding Jeanne's report on Mom's last days to Mom's autobiography as I was recreating the Anderson/Larson website, I was amused that Mom told Jeanne near the end of her life that it was like a party in her bedroom every night.  All her loved ones who had died were visiting with her.  She wondered where Elis was though.  He was her brother and had died when he was 26 and was just 6 years older than Mom.  She had mentioned earlier that Dad often visited her but she wondered WHERE he was.  Don't we all?  Still it is a comfort to know you will probably not be going to the great beyond alone.

Today I was looking at all my bananas and was reminded of a little place along 395 we used to stop and have banana shakes.  Question is, where would we be coming back from?  Was it after ski trips to Mammoth?  Would we have had shakes in the winter?  Probably so because it wouldn't have been cold in that part of California.  I have often looked for the place, but can't find it anymore, wonder where it was.  We always looked so forward to them.  It is a fun memory.

Well, if bad things happen in threes, I should have the last as of yesterday.  My Verizon bill was 3 times it's usual amount.  And I am trying to figure out why.  Seems I had a lot of calls last month, long ones, hmmm and I thought I didn't have any friends.   I must enjoy talking to someone...will have to check that out.

Carole and the Thayne Boys

My sister and Stephie were dropping off some furniture at the cabin today and visited with the Thayne boys and checked out how their cabin is coming along.  Looks really great and I guess that largest log is 30 years old!

Sometime Messy Makes Perfection!

My perfect gluten free crust.

Michael and I make a mess in the kitchen!  I was not finished making ice cream when he wants me to make my gluten free crust for one of the three quiche he is making.  There is only so much counter space and things got real messy, real fast.

But the quiche were wonderful and the kitchen is all cleaned up!

One thing I learned while making the Best Ice Cream recipe today.  I actually read instructions from the manual,  And it is a lot higher, and fluffier if you mash your fruit and juices with half the sugar in a separate bowl and then beat the half and half with the rest of the sugar and then fold in the heavy cream to that mixture.  Just before you pour the ice cream into the ice cream maker fold the fruit mix into the cream mixture.  It was perfect and I won't remember this unless I write it down.

Bad Choices, Bad Consequences

Isn't it strange how most of the bad stuff that happens to us is because of a bad choice we made?   I was the one who deleted all my family histories--by being careless and not thinking what I was doing.   Today coming back from Susanville I was singing to one of my favorite Vic Damone records and not thinking what I was doing either,  I had not put the speed control on--which you must do--because the speed limit is 55.  It is funny almost that you get a huge ticket up here for driving the speed you have to drive at to survive when going through LA.

Of course, at the moment I hit 80 for a second,  I was driving north and the highway patrol was driving south.  His red lights went on instantly.

He was nice enough, said he wrote it for 70 but Michael said it won't matter, it will still be almost $400 even if you do take the driving class and keep it off your record.  Woe is me, not what I need right now.  Michael said so many people are getting tickets, one of his fellow workers just did.  It is an easy money maker  for the State is this area, that is for sure.  Why don't I learn?  I have been here for 13 years...

Hardly makes the money I saved at Margie's Book Nook important.  I found the two additional books I need to finish the O'Hurley series by Nora Roberts.  I also found a "Carl" book for Keira.  The book nook has soooo many used books but they love it and so do we.

I also found the Guar Gum I need for my Gluten free cooking at the Susanville Health Food Store.  They said they also have buns usually but were all out and they have lots of other stuff, too.  Interesting how popular it is.  But, it is much better to cook what you can yourself as it is not cheap.

Update on the Meagan and Matt Family

I loved this picture because Keira looks like she is getting crushed with love and saying--ok, guys, enough, enough.

I love this picture because they are all smiling so sweethly.

I love this picture for the same reason.

What fun, crushed with love again, I love it.

Ahh, that parental pride, it shows.

Very nice, all around nice, love it.
Nice picture session, wonder how they got to shoot in the Monastery?

Nora Roberts

As a diversion from my family history recreations (which you can only work at so long before going slightly crazy) I read one of Nora Roberts novels "The Last Honest Woman".  I loved both of her main characters.  She makes me fall in love with her men all the time.  They understand women so well, wish I could meet one like that.   I have never met any like them but I wish I had--perhaps because I am not like one of her woman heroines either--I generally love them, too.

This wasn't always so.  In a lot of her earlier books, she had women who swore a lot and were a bit too aggressive for me to really like.   Actually this book is from 1988. I think she has matured into the best romance writer of all.  I love her Wedding Planner series, loved all the characters so much.   It is interesting to me that she continues to and always has written eight hours a day.  It is a serious job for her--no wonder she can put out so many books.  I love her triologies and will stop in at the book store today to see how many used books of hers they have that I have not read.  I then take them back to a Thrift store when I am done.

I can usually read her books in a day or so and I love that--they keep me interested and I just sit down and gulp them up.  What a wonderful escape from the hum drum life and too much work that we need to sometime disappear from...thank you Nora Roberts for the depth of your heroes and heroines.  I love them.

Unfortunate Mistake

Monday I was working on my Anderson and Larson Family Histories and I accidentally deleted ALL the posts, ALL my hard work and I did not have a copy of it.  I tried everything and did find some of the stories which had been backed up by Carbonite in 2011.  However, I forgot to renew my subscription or to use Webroot and it was not ALL backed up.

I was so depressed and angry at myself.  But hope springs eternal and I am putting it back on line and hopefully I will make a back up this time so it won't happen again!!!!!

The hardest story to replace has been the Benjamin Lillywhite, Jr. story and the Martin and Mary Jane Anderson stories.   I have it but not in an easy form to reconstruct so it is taking a lot of time!!

Well, hadn't I just been saying I didn't have anything important to do...now I do.  Back to work.

Update on the Fuqua Twinnies

Raina and Sage make rice krispie treats with their Aunt Stephanie. Steph says they are always lots of fun and enjoy being together.  Happy little girls.  Come August they will have a little baby brother.  That will be interesting.

The  twins live in Bozeman and Steph lives in Livingston and she has them come over at least once a week I think.

The Johnsons are at the Cabin in Silver Gate

My sister Carole and her husband Len with daughter Steph went up to visit Cheri and Jeff Johnson, who are staying at the Relatives's Roost this week.  Cheri is my brother Dick's daughter.

What a view from the front of the cabin.

Carole tries to do something to add her bit to the addition.

Stephanie and Cheri grew up together in Glendive and have a nice reunion.

Jeff and Cheri have just sold their home in Wyoming and have bought a home in Pocatello, Idaho.  Jeff will be the manager of the new Herberger's store there.  What a great opportunity and they will be close to children in Rexburg as well!!

Cheri and Jeff's daughter Jenna was also there to enjoy the cabin this week.

Randy's daughter Charlie left a great touch to the cabin.
